The category of window treatments that includes window shades, window blinds and shutters is known as hard window treatments. This name distinguishes this category from soft window treatments such as draperies and curtains.

There are three basic steps that one needs to think through, and we we do like to discuss these points prior to setting an appointment with one of our custom drapery and window shade professionals.
Designers and Commercial Window Treatments: Interior designers and commercial jobs are a significant part of our custom drapery and custom window blind business. Elliot Laniado has developed a reputation as a window treatment expert, specializing in odd shaped windows and motorized shades and motorized blinds. Interior designers do not learn about window treatments in interior design school.
Many designers have expressed to us that they only had one class which taught them about window treatments in general. This can create a feeling of frustration in some designers who are quite creative, but do not know how to turn their design vision into a reality. These designers are our specialty. We have taken drawings that seemed absolutely impossible, including two drapery rods that intersected in an X pattern. Elliot Laniado designed a classy window treatment solution for a homeowner in Bay Ridge. He never imagined his drapery and shades would be seen as the number one draperies project for the year 2013! At the Exciting Windows! national conference Elliot presented his project and was awarded the highest window treatment design honor of more than 100 window fashions designers! The award is a memorial to Valerie Bursten, a nationally recognized designer who appeared on HGTV. This award was created by her husband, the co-founder of Exciting Windows!
