A homeowner in Colts Neck, NJ, along with her designer Sura Malaga, had a vision of a beautiful window treatment. Sura designed and created a design for the window treatments, and then called on Window Treats Inc. to help with implementing her vision.
During the initial design consultation, the client had two distinctive rooms they wanted assistance with.
Foyer – The windows are very tall and narrow. They wanted to keep the view, but wanted to filter the light entering the room.
Great Room – They wanted something spectacular with old world charm for the triple story windows, but they didn’t want to obscure the view of the river and pool in the backyard. However, in the late afternoon, they wanted to block out the heat and protect their furniture and carpets.
Creative Process – The End Result
In the Great Room, it was decided to treat the top and sides with long draperies tied back so as not to obscure the view. Window Treats used a beautiful, multi-color fabric with a heavy bullion trim and big tassel tiebacks for the panels. They also wanted to accentuate the height of the center arch, so they crisscrossed two center rods with finals. The idea was based on a visual of two swords or arrows crossed, as one may see in a castle. This design gave the center arch more importance and brought in the “old charm” look the homeowner so desired.
For the Foyer, the client loved puddling panels, so Window Treats gave them a 12 inch puddle and a double balloon valance on top. Instead of treating each window individually, they were treated as one window.
