The Hunter Douglas Design Studio
Anyone can go to the Design Studio craft a truly unique treatment. You can choose from numerous fabrics that add drama, depth, and style. And you can get guidance and help from the experts at Hunter Douglas, who will offer suggestions for coordinating looks as well as for contrasts with color or patterns, to bring out an accent color in the room, to highlight a color from a patterned undertreatment, or to add a color that you just love. While you’re at the Design Studio, be sure to check out the options for curated hardware and accessories, which can give you a fully one-of-a-kind result.
Design Studio Roman Shades
When you choose your Roman Shade product from the Design Studio, you’ll get to customize it all the way. You can choose the traditional flat fold, which has no horizontal seams across the front; it’s just one big piece of fabric that lies flat when lowered and creates folds when raised and is best suited to fabrics with large, bold patterns or stripes. Or you can go with batten front, which adds horizontal pleats (or battens, also known as tunnels) that add dimension and visual interest. These shades are well-suited to solid or textured fabrics. Your final option is batten back, which has the battens in the back, creating a tailored look when lowered and offering traditionally defined folds when raised. These shades are great for contemporary or transitional décor and are well-suited to solid fabrics or subtle patterns or textures. With Design Studio Roman Shades, you can add some options, including:
- A lining (even in a blackout fabric for a bedroom) to hide the lift strings, control light, and add to the insulating effect at the window.
- A coordinating flat valance, side panels, or drapery to complement your Roman Shades.
- Additional fabric through the Accents by the Yard program, which will let you create matching accessories such as throw pillows.
