As we near the winter months, you might be thinking of ways to reduce your energy bills. One way is to increase the things that will keep inside air in and outside air out. Hunter Douglas offers a variety of window fashions that do just that. At Window Treats serving Cherry Hill, we carry the full line of Hunter Douglas window fashions, including the most energy-efficient products. Insulating the Window
Did you know that an untreated window can lose 30% or more of a room’s heating and cooling energy? Adding any kind of window treatment will improve your room’s energy efficiency; certain products will do it even better. Hunter Douglas is well-known for its energy-efficient treatments and was chosen by the Attachments Energy Rating Council (AERC) to be the first to receive the AERC-verified energy rating and certification for interior window coverings. AERC-certified Hunter Douglas products include:
- Applause® Honeycomb Shades. Unlike some other brands of cellular shades, Applause is created with a double cell, which offers increased insulation over regular single-cell construction.
- Duette® Honeycomb Shades. Duette Honeycomb shades offer a simple, sleek look for modern spaces, but also work well in traditional settings. The ultimate benefit, of course, is that they almost pay for themselves with the energy savings you’ll enjoy
- Sonnette™ Cellular Roller Shades. The new, round, sculptured construction of the Sonnette cellular roller shade is being called “the new shape of light.” These beautiful rolling cells gently diffuse sunlight throughout the room while creating a sense of privacy.
Tips for Getting the Most From Your Treatment
Even if your window treatment isn’t AERC-certified, you can still get some help with saving energy if you make the best use of it. In the winter, if it’s a sunny day, leave your treatment open to collect that free solar heat. If it’s cloudy and at night, keep the treatment closed so you don’t lose your warm air to the coolness outside. In the summer, keep your treatment closed both day and night to keep the solar heat out and the cool air in.
