2022 Pantone® Color of the Year

2022 Color of the Year – Very Peri

Color plays a large role in everyone’s lives, sometimes without our even knowing it. But it can also be overwhelming for homeowners who aren’t sure how to go about choosing the “right” color for their space. At Window Treats serving Monmouth Beach, we’re always happy to help our clients choose color—sometimes by starting with what the professionals are talking about. Which usually includes the Pantone Color of the Year. If you haven’t heard about this year’s color, learn more below.

What Color Does

Color both enhances and reflects our mood, and ripples out to impact culture and cultural climate. “The Pantone Color of the Year reflects what is taking place in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that color can hope to answer,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. Color trends come from where we are, where we want to go, and how people are feeling or not feeling. Color inspires numerous industries, including home furnishings, window coverings, industrial design, fashion, and more.

Choosing the Color of the Year

“The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today,” said Pressman. Through things like trend forecasts and color psychology, the Pantone Color Institute helps global brands design products that call on the power and emotion of color by analyzing trends and understanding the zeitgeist of the times. This year, Pantone has designed PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, which is a red violet-infused blue hue. They describe the color as “a new Pantone color whose courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity.” They also say that it “brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family” and that it “places the future ahead in a new light.”

Adding Color to a Room

Before you know it, you’ll be seeing Very Peri everywhere—just look at anything from décor to kitchenware to clothing. Which means you’ll be able to add it in a variety of ways, both subtle and bold. You can paint a wall or two in the hue or add new décor that brings it in small bites. Or look to new window fashions. Hunter Douglas offers a number of products that will complement or even carry the color, especially in the Design Studio™, where you can find a variety of fabrics, from standard designs to exclusive textiles from world-renowned designers. If you want help making a selection, be sure to speak with one of our representatives today.
