Historically speaking, during big election years, softer and safe colors are what we are drawn to. It’s more of a neutral world, with no really “happy” colors available. So what do you do if you want to use color in your home? There are still areas around the house where you can add color, like on the windows, walls, and even the ceiling. Talk to a trained professional at Window Treats here in New York City. We’ll be happy to help you determine how you can use color in your rooms. [Read more…]

In 1963, Pantone established the first color matching system, referred to as the Pantone Matching system or simply PMS. Today, Pantone is the main reference tool for all industries when they work to match colors and forecasted hues. PMS uses a standardized Pantone numbering system to identify each color (for example: Pantone Red 199), making it easy for anyone to refer to a specific color. If you’re looking to add a forecasted color—or any other shade—to your home, work with Window Treats serving Brooklyn, NY. We’ll happily help you match the specific Pantone color you want. Exciting Windows! Award Winner of National Design Award
Yes, this was in 2013, but we are still so proud 🙂
Elliot Laniado designed a classy window treatment solution for a homeowner in Bay Ridge. He never imagined his drapery and shades would be seen as the number one draperies project for the year 2013! At the Exciting Windows! national conference Elliot presented his project and was awarded the highest window treatment design honor of more than 100 window fashions designers! The award is a memorial to Valerie Bursten, a nationally recognized designer who appeared on HGTV. This award was created by her husband, the co-founder of Exciting Windows!
Hunter Douglas Duette Architella shades insulate your home so that 50% of the heat you are paying so much for doesn’t escape out through the windows. Note the red color in the picture to the right. This is a typical home, similar to the homes we do work for in Rumson and Holmdel New Jersey. Those red spots are where heat is escaping from the home. Notice that the majority of the heat is escaping through the windows!
Any type of window treatment would be helpful for insulation, but the level of insulation will differ. Wood blinds with slats have many gaps and therefore offer limited insulation. Roman shades, Hunter Douglas Vignette, Hunter Douglas Silhouette, and other shadings are better, but still not the best.
